Mid-Century Soul in a Contemporary Home
An expressive, personality-led redesign of a Guildford property, combining warmth, wit and considered comfort.
This Guildford home was designed to be lived in boldly. The brief? A refined yet playful space that balanced contemporary comfort with mid-century soul, something quietly confident but full of character. Working closely with the client, we layered bespoke joinery, rich textures, and curated details to create a home that feels both grown-up and full of joy.
Throughout, high-quality pieces were selected not just for impact, but for longevity. A rust velvet Gubi dining bench anchors the open-plan kitchen space with warmth and structure. A sheepskin ‘Petra’ chair adds a touch of softness to the living area. Quirky Kate Boxer artworks inject wit and movement into otherwise minimal walls.
Bespoke cabinetry, finished in tactile Acupanel, was designed to enhance the TV and audio zones, balancing form with acoustic function. We also introduced a bar extension off the existing kitchen; a small but transformative addition that now feels like it’s always belonged.
The house, originally intended as a bachelor space, is now rich with personality and rhythm, comfortable, stylish, and built for how the client actually lives.
“Every piece was chosen with intention - nothing here is off-the-shelf or without purpose. It’s a home that reflects the client completely. ”
